I was always a great fan of South Indian food before I came to Chennai. And among all the south Indian things, I like this Ghee Idli the most. Its like some 10 to 12 small small Idlis dipped in sambar and ghee and with all masala and all that. Just wow when eaten hot hot. For the best idlis in town never forget to go to Murugan Idli Kadai (for the hot idlis and variety chutneys) in T. Nagar. I had chance to go there just once but like to go to Sangeeta at Adyar for South Indian food. And you have to eat this like sssssssssssssuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrp noise. :)
Enjoy.

Was laughing madly that you actually took a pic of the plate of ghee idly sambhar from Sangeetha! A while later, stepped out of office to discover mild drizzling rain. Decided that 'hot hot ghee idly sambhar from Sangeetha' is the perfect meal to enjoy in such weather. Other than of coz, masala chai and pakodis! I must say, my trip and experience was well worth it. In fact, I was almost tempted to order another plate immediately after I polished off the first one!! Am not a glutton, but I do enjoy good food :-) Yes, am proud to be a foodie!! Sangeetha is not new to me at all. Dad loves to go there so much, mom promptly developed a right royal aversion to the place. Somehow, we've never tried this 'item'. And mini-idlies were my favorites as a child. Why, oh why, did mom give that 'mini idli-maker' away.....
Anyhow, thanks for introducing me to something I discovered after only over a decade of living in Chennai. And to think a Sardar had to show me the way. Life is ironic, indeed.
